Whether you’re road tripping or want to hunker down with your family or close friends at a vacation rental, here are some helpful packing and planning tips for your upcoming getaway:
BYO Cleaning Supplies—No matter how clean your vacation rental is when you arrive, you never know when you’ll want to wipe down a surface or just give your kitchen appliance an extra scrub. To ensure you have everything you need to feel safe and secure in your home away from home, bring along extra alcohol wipes, disinfectant spray and hand sanitizers.
What to Pack: A vacation rental isn’t a hotel, so you can’t always expect the same amenities. This may mean bringing all your own toiletries, and more. Keep a checklist of all the small essentials you might need to pack that normally wouldn’t be on your list — a hairdryer, a curling iron, extra chargers, towels, laundry detergent, etc. Contacting the renter to see what will be available is a good idea, but it never hurts to be prepared.
Meal Planning: Depending on the location of your rental, you might be doing a lot of your own cooking. To cut down on trips to the grocery store– and spend more time on all the fun stuff you have on the roster– plan as many meals as you can in advance. Also, check out the local community in advance for local grocers and farmer’s markets for seasonal ingredients!
